Lucy Turner

Clinical Research Associate

Dr Turner studied medicine at the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2015 with an honours degree. She developed an interest in paediatrics early on as a student, choosing to complete paediatric rotations in both St Helens and Knowsley NHS Foundation Trust and Blackpool Victoria NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Turner completed her medical elective in Ghana Akim Oda Government Hospital, which included working on the medical, surgical and paediatric wards.

After graduation she completed her Foundation Training at Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust. Her paediatric foundation placement was undertaken at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on the general paediatric and diabetes team. Dr Turner was involved in a project determining the accuracy and user experience of the new novel flash glucose monitoring system. She presented the findings at the National British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes conference. This not only confirmed her interest in paediatrics but also sparked an interest in research.

In 2017 Dr Turner successfully applied for the post as Neuromuscular Clinical Research Associate here at Alder Hey. Dr Turner is looking forward to starting her speciality paediatric training at the end 2018.
